Is the book Vampire Academy appropriate for a thirteen year old?
Is it really dark, does it have sexual references, extremely bad swearing, etc.
I'm not asking if it is good, I'm asking if it's appropriate. Don't say how good it is, just if it's okay for a thirteen year old like me to read.
Yes, there is bad language, sex and a few other things in there. However, seeing as how the books target audience is young adult readers, I would honestly tell you that it would be appropriate for a 13 year old. It just depends on what you prefer to read I guess. For some teens, they don't mind that stuff. For others, it's just not what they're looking for. Considering the content (drugs, alcohol, sex, language) I'd say the appropriate age should be *at least* 13 or 14 years old. My sister read it when she was 14. She loved it. I'm 22, and I gave the books to her to read because I thought that she was old enough to handle the material, and also because I loved them when I read it and I figured she would enjoy it too. 
It just depends on the person and whether they are comfortable reading material like that. If you're not sure if it's appropriate for you, you can get one of your parents to check it out first.
