Wiccan, Pagan, and other religions that practice magik...Where do you practice and do you have a familiar?
Do you practice your religion/trade/passion on the physical plane or the astral plane or both?
Do you have a familiar and is it a physical friend or a spirit?
The astral plane is where I practice and very little in the physical world. I also have several cats and other animals around me lots but own no "real" cats.
I realize not all wicca and pagan followers practice magic this question is for those who do. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that.
Familiars can be pets in a very loose interpitation of the term "pet". You are right not all are animals but those who are not are usually refered to as spirit guides or spirits if I am not wrong, but I could be =)
May you be blessed.
Now that we all know I am a bad speller and the spell check didn't notice...Sorry if my lack of spelling virtue upsets you.
Well i am an old fashioned pagan, and i for one would love to work with a familiar and i'm fairly certain that the cat that now lives in our house is one. He has always seemed brighter than most cats and that could be a very good explanation.
And she's right. Magick is referring to witchcraft, and magic is what magicians in las vegas do.
hey i made a wiccan and pagan website. i was wondering if u guys can look at it tell me ur opinion maybe even join. i want to make it better and i want it to help newbies understand what wicca is and b able to ask ?s and get answers from their fellow wiccans and pagans to see if this is the path they would like to take. my screen name on there is athena if u would like to send me a message with some suggestions. this is the website wiccanpage.webs.com thank you for you help and opinions and thanks if you do join.
The background art is a little much. Maybe try just one image instead of filling the page. The links aren't clearly visible on most of the pages. It's a good start. Keep tweaking and adding. Maybe use frames instead. To keep everything separate and easy to read. Also you are making members fill out a form to become members, so you really need a "terms of service" and "privacy policy". The link to become a member should be more prevalent. I would put it in more places. Maybe with a different pic associated with the link.
A PhD can be very customizable and flexible to adapt to the particular interests of the student (and thesis advisers, of course). The purpose of the PhD is not only to attain expertise in a certain discipline, but to demonstrate the ability to successfully design and perform independent research and the ability to critically examine ideas relevant to the area of study.
Yes the thesis has to be factually correct to the satisfaction of the thesis advisers. In the physical sciences, that's pretty straightforward. In areas of subjective analysis such as psychology, it's not so much. The thesis advisor may actually disagree with a conclusion in the thesis, but as long as that conclusion was made on sound analysis of the data and the student can defend it on that basis, that is what is key. Sooner or later it always boils down to math, even in psychology.
As far as this Wiccan thesis, yeah it does sound frivolous to me from what I read in the article. However, if this thesis downplayed the woo-woo and focused on the psychology of learning mechanisms among those given to mystical beliefs vs. non-mystical believers, I could see some scientific value in that. I don't know if that's the case or not since I haven't read it, but given the information in the article and the bias of her background I have a hunch it's not that rigorous. And her comment, "I say what the hell do you know?", doesn't sound like much of a reasoned defense.
can a witch really cast a spell on you ? like your going to be sick or your skin will burn etc..?
so if its true ? can a witch doctor cure it ? thanks
The answer to your first question is yes, and no. I say "yes" because in theory a witch may cast any spell on anyone they so choose. However, I say "no" because no witch (at least none that I know of) would do this. It violates the basic tenets of the wiccan rede.
As for a witch doctor, I don't know enough about them to give you any sort of legitimate answer, aside from my opinion.
That all being said, you have to remember that the power of the mind is greater than anything that any one else can do. If someone tells you something that you feel is a "curse", and you believe it enough, it can actually happen~~regardless whether there is a curse or not. I believe it's called "self-fulfilling".
I am an adult, and for a long while have been reading books about wicca and spells, and general Paganism. I want to better understand how the god/godesses are really understood. I have a hard time believing in any of them. But I strongly believe in magick, and my own power, as well as earth , air, fire, and water.Do u have to believe in these Gods like the Christian God? Who loves and rejects, rewards and punishes? How involved are the pagan gods personaly in your life, or do they only aid you in your majick?
There are so many different religions and paths under the larger pagan umbrella, covering almost every different flavor of theism imaginable, from polytheism to pantheism to monism to henotheism to monotheism and beyond. There are even atheist pagans as well.
It really depends on the specific Pagan and the path they follow.
Me? I'm what you'd call a soft polytheist. My gods are very real to me, but my experience with them has been as manifestations of the a greater divine whole. I don't see the divine as God, to me it is more abstract and akin to concepts like Jung's "collective unconscious", life force, tao, or prana. I see my gods as aspects of that. I do not see them as separate beings in the greater sense, but I honor them as such for what they represent is distinct and meaningful, making it relevant for me to do so. They are guides and friends.
I am by no means representative of everyone. This is just my own understanding of the Divine.
