A stone is thrown up in the air with an initial speed of 32 m/s. How long is it in the air for?
I know acceleration due to g = -9.8 m/s2. So do I divide 32 by 9.8 to get 3.3 and double that to account for the time from the top to the ground?
However, what do I do if the ball doesn't hit the ground with a velocity of 0? Wouldn't that change the procedure?
You are missing a crucial piece of data that makes your problem currently unsolvable: the height above the ground at which the stone is thrown from. Knowing this can help us determine when the stone is in "the air".
