Can people tell if you are wearing gold plated jewelry? Vermeil?
I am not really into yellow gold like that bc im just not. My mom got me a pendant and I have to get a necklace for it. I keep having all these jewelers tell me to go with Vermeil. Can you tell the difference right off that I'd have on gold plated jewelry?
As I stated I have a gold pendant that needs a necklace; my only reason for getting it.
If it's the same karat as your pendant you won't be able to tell the difference - it only shows up if it's lighter/darker and it obviously stands out. Please remember that vermeil WILL rub off eventually. You can prolong its life by taking good care of it - not using harsh chemicals to clean, storing in a soft, cotton pouch away from sunlight, removing when showering/swimming/jogging etc.
What you really need to think about is, do you want an investment piece that will last you a lifetime (ie. real gold) but for which you will have to pay a little more now, or something that will work for you in the present but which you might have to replace later?
