is this a poor tattoo concept?
i want to get a tattoo by a certain artist, the only problem i'm encountering is the piece i choose doesn't hold as much meaning as who created it (i hold him high on a pedestal). i've found a few that i've interpreted but i believe very few things carry enough signifance to have on my body for a lifetime. i've spoken to him and he offered to create something for me (which i'm completely baffled and honored) but am i being overly-complicated or just too indecisive? does anyone have any opinions are suggestions to help me?
If an artist you put "on a pedestal" is willing to do a custom piece for you, then get it! If he really has you in mind while creating it, then it would be hard to find something that holds more meaning to you, right? Getting a custom design, especially when you can have input, ensures that your tattoo is something that will hold significance for you, and will not be something that is just open to interpretation by any one else who might come along and choose the same existing image you might be considering. I think it's always better to get a custom piece. I'm not really sure what you are indecisive about, but if it's whether or not to get a tattoo, only you can decide that. If you don't feel that it's right, but still want something by the artist then maybe you could get him to do a watercolor or drawing for you, many tattoo artists also paint and draw, an original piece of artwork could be something else you could hold onto forever as well.
