Sick or Salivary gland stone?? Golf Ball size!?
Hello...
I have been sick for two weeks and then all of a sudden I have not been able to eat without the salivary gland on my right side swelling up like a golf ball. It is very tough, really hurts to the touch and then subsides after eating is done. It still hurts when Im not eating but not as much. I went to the doctor and she gave me biaxin. I have been taking 1000 milligrams for three days and no change. I am going back tomorrow but I am worried.. I have been reading things about salivary stones. Could it just be a blocked gland randomly or would I need some sort of surgery? I am in university and dealing with exams and papers but feel like shit and just want some similar situations or any advice. Thank you sooo much!!!!
I've had this same type of thing going on for a while now. My ear, nose and throat Doc said if the meds don't help then he'd remove the stones and/or gland. He said it's an outpatient surgery and really not a big deal. Of course, it's easy for the Doc to say that because he's the one doing the cutting and we are the ones doing the healing...but, it's not a major thing. If your doc isn't helping then go to someone new.
Also make sure you get lots of non-alcoholic and non-carbonated drinks. Get proper nutrition or at least take a multi-vitamin and supplement.
