Physics Help What is the electric force between a glass ball that has 1.4 x 10^-6C ?
What is the electric force between a glass ball that has 1.4 x 10^-6C charge and a rubber ball that has -4.0 x 10^-6 of charge when they are separated by a distance of 5.8cm?
The coulomb constant is 8.98775 x 10^9 N * m^2/C^2
just using Coulomb's Law for this one:
F = k*|q1|*|q2|/(r^2) This is to calculate to magnitude the electric force.
k = 8.98775 * 10^9
q1 = 1.4 * 10^-6 C
|q2| = 4.0 *10^-6 C
r=5.8 cm = 0.058m
plug these values in the eq-n to get the magnitude of the electric force.
since the 2 balls have opposite charges (+)&(-) ---> the direction of the electric force of the glass ball on the rubber ball will be toward the glass ball and vice versa.
